The Academy for Eating Disorders is a global professional association committed to leadership in eating disorders research, education, treatment, and prevention.

American Academy of Pediatrics

Provides information and publications to promote the health, safety and well–being of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

American Diabetes Association

Provides information to the public on diabetes and related topics, including nutrition, exercise, and treatment. ADA also offers patient referrals.

American Dietetic Association

ADA provides timely and objective food and nutrition information for consumers, health professionals and ADA members.

American Heart Association

Distributes publications on diet, nutrition, weight reduction, and exercise to the public.

American Institute for Cancer Research

Provides research-based publications on nutrition and cancer prevention to health professionals and the public. Offers medical and nutrition advice from a registered dietitian.

American Medical Association

Provides information on various diseases, including diabetes, as well as general health information on nutrition and physical activity. Offers a “physician finder” to help find information on physicians throughout the United States.

American Public Health Association

Serves the public through its scientific and practice programs, publications, educational services, and advocacy efforts.

American Running Association

Provides information on exercise and nutrition to the public.

American Society for Bariatric Surgery

Provides information on obesity, gastric surgery, and related topics to the public. Provides names and contact information of doctors who specialize in bariatric surgery.

American Society of Bariatric Physicians

Provides patient referrals to physicians who specialize in obesity.

Association for Morbid Obesity Support

Locations of hospitals offering Bariatric Surgery in each state. List of Bariatric surgeons by location. Other support services, i.e., patient experiences with insurance coverage, patient critiques of doctors and hospitals, etc.

Council on Size and Weight Discrimination, Inc.

Provides information on eating disorders, “sizism,” the nondieting movement, and size discrimination.

Eating Disorder Referral and Information Center

Provides information and treatment resources for all forms of eating disorders. Provides referrals to eating disorder professionals, treatment facilities, support groups, etc. Offers general information to inform the public about the treatment and prevention of eating disorders.

Through its website, helps minority populations identify resources for health information.

National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders

Operates a hotline (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time) where information can be obtained on eating disorders, therapist referrals, and support groups.

National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance

Provides support and attempts to eliminate discrimination against fat people.

National Eating Disorders Association

Provides educational resources on eating disorders and their prevention for schools, health professionals, community organization, and individuals.
